Ian Anderson was born on this day in 1947.  Anderson was the leader and lead vocalist for the band Jethro Tull. A fixture in Rock music in the early 1970’s, Jethro Tull produced hit albums “Aqualung” (1971), “Thick as a Brick” (1972), and “A Passion Play” (1973).

1954 – Elvis Presley made an appearance in Memphis where he debuted “That’s All Right (Mama).” 1975 – “Manhattan Transfer,” the summer variety show, premiered on CBS-TV.
