There are loads of delicious seasonal treats out there. Not many events are more fattening than Thanksgiving and Christmas. Though Christmas dinner is usually a feast to rival Thanksgiving, the truly sweet part of the season is all in the baked goods.

Dunkin donuts is spicing up their lineup this season. They’re adding a couple new donut recipes that harken back to the good ol’ days of eating mama’s Christmas cookies. These donuts will come in both a gingerbread and a sugar cookie variety. Both of them sound absolutely delectable.

As delicious as these donuts likely are, can they really hold a candle to mama’s Christmas cookies? I doubt it. There’s just nothing quite like a whole pile of treats fresh out of the over at home, each one made with a little bit of love. I like them all. You probably can’t find a cookie that doesn’t excite me. I think a whole lot of people are probably in that same boat.

So how will Dunkin Donuts possibly compete with the sweet treats made right at home? Maybe they won’t have to. These days many mamas are just too busy to dedicate a day to baking. For many homes, it doesn’t matter how bad you want some sand tarts because the cookie master has to go to work.

This doesn’t mean that you have to settle on donuts and skip the Christmas cookies. All it means is that moms could use a little help. As if being a mother wasn’t already hard enough, the holiday season asks an awful lot from the her, especially if she knows how to bake.

Whoever hits the kitchen to bake up some cheer this year, lend them a hand. Together, with a lot of sugar and a little bit of love, you can make Christmas extra sweet.
