Vote totals are in from yesterday’s General Election. Unofficial results in Mifflin County show Democrat incumbent Kevin Kodish, Republican incumbent Rob Postal, along with Republican Mark Sunderland elected to the Board of Commissioners. Voters chose Terry Styers, Noah Wise, Beth Laughlin, Fredrick Nickel, and Mary Lou Sigler to serve on the County School Board. Chris Torquato, running unopposed, will retain the position of District Attorney. Alan Sunderland was elected County Coroner. Lewistown re-elected Venus Shade to serve on Borough Council. Aaron Wilson was elected to a four-year term. Marc Terry was elected to a two-year term.
Huntingdon County District Attorney Dave Smith ran unopposed for re-election. Mark Sather, Scott Walls, and Jeff Thomas were top vote-getters for County Commissioner.
Nestlé USA is initiating a voluntary recall of ready-to-bake refrigerated Nestlé Toll House Cookie Dough products due to the potential presence of food-grade rubber pieces. This voluntary recall only covers specific batch codes of the following products, which include ready-to-bake refrigerated Nestlé Toll House Cookie Dough bars, tubs and tube-shaped “chubs.” The recall is limited to products that begin with 9189 through batch codes that begin with 9295. Authorities have filed charges of aggravated assault after a weekend incident in Lewistown. Borough Police arrested Justice Blessing after an incident at 923 West Fourth Street. According to the report, Blessing was inside the residence threatening people with a knife. Blessing was transported to the Mifflin County Correctional Facility.
