Good morning,New York State is reporting an increase in local sales tax collections to start the year. According to Thomas DiNapoli, collections rose more than 5 percent statewide in the first quarter.In Cattaraugus County, receipts topped 5 million dollars in March—up more than 13 percent from last year. The city of Olean saw one of the biggest gains in the region, with revenue jumping nearly 50 percent year-over-year.Meanwhile, Olean has a new city auditor. Allison Barnish has been appointed to the role, while Lens Martial will return as city clerk. Both take effect May 11th following unanimous council approval.And in Olean, a man is facing felony drug charges following an investigation into reported drug sales. Police say 54-year-old George Martin was arrested after a search warrant at his home, where officers say they found fentanyl.
