Good morning. Chilling new details are emerging out of Saratoga County as police continue to investigate the tragic deaths of six family members in Mechanicville. Officials now reveal that sixty-four-year-old grandmother Amy Steadman is suspected of being involved in the deaths of her daughter and four young grandchildren, including ten-year-old twins. While final toxicology reports are still pending, investigators currently believe the family died from a coordinated mass poisoning inside their Harris Avenue apartment. Authorities reiterate there is no threat to the general public.Meanwhile, a major legal battle is intensifying between Albany and Washington. The federal Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit in Buffalo federal court to block New York’s newly enacted restrictions on Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. The state law, which officially banned ICE agents from wearing masks and required them to wear clear identification, was immediately met by a dueling countersuit from Governor Kathy Hochul and Attorney General Letitia James. The state claims the federal government's pushback is unconstitutional, while federal officials argue the rules put agents in direct danger. The legal showdown comes as a brand-new Siena University poll reveals Governor Hochul has expanded her lead in the race for New York governor. The survey shows Hochul now holds a twenty-point advantage over her Republican challenger, Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, marking a four-point jump in the governor's favor over the last few weeks. While the two candidates remain virtually tied upstate, Hochul has gained significant ground with independent voters and downstate suburban communities. And if you are looking to get a premier view of the holidays this week, time is running out. The city has officially opened its public lottery for prime, bird's-eye viewing locations for Macy's annual July Fourth fireworks show, including dedicated spots at Brooklyn Bridge Park and the Manhattan Seaport. The online lottery is open to all New York residents eighteen and older, but entries must be submitted before the deadline at eleven-fifty-nine tonight. For more news from across the state, download the radioNOVO app. I’m Codi Gaboff, radioNOVO News.
